Swimming with dolphins, learning the guitar or travelling the world – everyone has things they want to do at some point in their life and at Foodsfitness we are all for people being happy, so thought we’d put forward a few ideas you might want to add to your list!

See the northern lights

This is a popular choice for lots of people – there’s nothing quite like travelling to the middle of nowhere in an icy panorama and seeing the paranormal beauty of the Northern Lights. There are never any guarantees but with a stroke of luck you just might catch a glimpse. The best places to see them are countries like Iceland, Finland and Norway in the winter months.

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junkie for this – lots of people take the jump just because falling out of a plane is such a crazy thing to do and needs to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. As a newbie you’ll be doing a tandem jump so you don’t need to worry about pulling the chord.

Write a book

It’s easier than ever to self-publish and get your work out there. Some of the best books have been written by people who have no literary background at all and simply wrote down their thoughts and experiences. Do you have a story to tell? Is there or has there been a person in your life that would make a fantastic character on a journey? How about your own life? If you sit down and start writing, you never know what could follow!

Join the world’s biggest food fight

Why not join the town of Buñol in Spain for the annual festival of La Tomantina and join the world-famous food fight that’s held every August. It looks completely bonkers and you’ll get super messy but we are willing to bet it’ll be one of the most memorable times of your life.

Do the Inca trail

The Inca trail in Peru plays host to thousands of tourists every year who take the challenge to camp and hike their way up to the glorious Macchu Picchu that waits for them at the top. It’s not an easy journey and takes some outdoor chops but the experience will be more than worth it.

Go on an awesome road trip

Got wheels? Grab some buddies and plan a road trip! This could be something small in scale that only takes a few days through to something that can take weeks. Drive East Coast USA, travel to Europe and travel through France, Germany and Switzerland or just visit a nearby city There’s so much to see and do on the way – just make sure you have a backup driver so you can have a break!

Go to a music festival

Camping, rain, mud and questionable hygiene facilities are all a reality at music festivals, but with it you get amazing music, experiences and a whole bunch of random people that can quickly become friends. There are so many music festivals happening at one time, no matter your personal taste. Find one, set up camp and enjoy a tiring but insanely fun time.

This is one of those things people keep meaning to do, but never get round to because of busy lives. Well, why not give it a real try and do it! Not only will you be helping your fellow man, but you’ll also meet some amazing people along the way and feel great about yourself to top it all off. There are no downsides! Help organise youth groups, homeless support, animal welfare or spending time with the elderly. There’s a lot out there! Just try this.
